News July 2009

The Royal Highland Show 2009 has been hailed by many as one of the “best ever” and right at the heart of it was the Natural Scotland tent which hosted the nine SEARS organisations.

Featuring stands from all nine SEARS organisations, as well as Greener Scotland and the Scottish National Rural Network the tent again played host to a key SEARS event as Environment Minister Roseanna Cunningham formally published its first annual review.

The event was a huge success and attracted a large number of people to the tent. Ms Cunningham paid tribute to the staff in the audience – and across the whole SEARS family – who had helped put together the review and contributed to the work of SEARS in the past year before undertaking a short tour of the tent itself.

In the days leading up to the show the SEARS biosecurity protocol was formally published receiving excellent coverage in the Scotsman and the Press and Journal. The Frontline Delivery Board will now consider ways in which the protocol could receive additional publicity in the coming months to maximise staff awareness. With the Show over for another year the SEARS Frontline Delivery Board are now looking at ways in which to make further improvements for Scotland’s line managers.
