Set up in 1997 by the John Muir Trust, the John Muir Award is the main educational initiative of the Trust. It aims to encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to discover, explore, conserve and share their experiences of wild places, whether they're on the doorstep or further afield
The John Muir Award in the Cairngorms offers an exciting opportunity for participants to meet the challenges of a national environmental award scheme, focused on wild places and which is closely linked to key aims of the Cairngorms National Park including:
- Promoting understanding and enjoyment of the Cairngorms
- Conserving and enhancing the natural and cultural heritage of the Cairngorms
- Promoting sustainable use of natural resources found within the Cairngorms.
