Forestry Land and Property Sales
Forestry Commission Scotland
National forest land is the forests, woods, open land and other property owned by Scottish Ministers on behalf of the nation, and managed by Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS). From time to time, Forestry Commission Scotland sells woodland and property as part of the management of the national forest estate.
Sales of land and property are normally offered on the open market, however, the National Forest Land Scheme gives communities, housing bodies and NGOs (Non-Governmental Organisations) a preferential opportunity to acquire national forest land before advertising. Communities also have certain legal rights to apply to buy any land for sale under Community Right to Buy.
