There are over 17,900 crofts entered on the Commission’s Register of Crofts of which approximately 13,600 are tenanted and the remainder owner/occupied.
The Register contains an entry for each of these units giving the name, location, rent and the extent of individual crofts. The name of the tenant and landlord are also recorded as is any forestry development on the common grazings.
